Johns

First off, i think the cover looks great. As for the story itself, it's nice to finally see the Blood subplot pick up steam and get somewhere. I just hope the cult thing doesn't fall flat. We get a little bit more action/thought out of Superboy( a character I never really cared for before this series). On a side note, I thought he was mostly impervious to harm as is Superman, so the bite scene kinda threw me...
anyway, as usual Johns has me eagerly awaiting more, especially with Starfire and Robin falling at the end right into Ravager and Deathstroke.
The art is of the usual high quality stuff McKone puts out...not that i dislike Grummett, but i hope McKone doesn't have to take another break for a long time.
a grade A book.

Have I ever mentioned on these boards that Teen Titans is my favorite book right now?
I'm loving the character development going on with all these characters. One of my favorites right now is Superboy. Even though Johns as avoided (at least for the moment) dealing with the whole "cloned from Lex Luthor" thing was introduced a while back, he's still doing a good job showing Conner as a struggling teen trying to live up to Superman's legacy. The best scene in the whole book is when he pumps himself up and purposely triggers his heat vision in order to stop the giant skeleton monster that Raven sent after them.
If you have no idea what's going on the story right now, I bet that last sentence sounded really screwy. :)
The new and smarter Kid Flash is great too. I'm really enjoying him.
Also, the new Brother Blood is also kind of interesting. I like the fact that one of the Titans' major villains is also a teenager. This way it's not always just about a group of teenagers fighter grown up super-villains who are way out of their league. Not to say that this guy isn't giving them a run for their money though.
I give this book an A.

Good stuff.
I liked the story and art was great. The only thing that surprised me was it was a little darker than I expected, especially after all the hub bub about the Outsiders issue that was dark. I figured Teen Titans should be even more kid-friendly, but oh well - I liked it.

I was quite happy with this issue. The new Brother Blood is appropriately sinister villian. I'd like to see him team up with Klarion The Witch Boy. The dialogue was strong throughout. Most of what I've read from Johns has been as insubstantial as a rice cake, but he's doing a very good job with this series.

Did you read JSA this month? It's pretty deep and very thought provoking.
That's why Johns just amazes me right now; he's able to do so many different things and do them all well that it's truly a pleasure to read.

I'd have to agree with this. I even started Flash and Hawkman late (going to have to track down those back issues) and while they aren't as good as JSA or Teen Titans, they are enjoyable.

Another good issue. But what else do I expect from Johns and McKone? ;)
I'd probably be enjoying the storyline a bit more if there wasn't such a focus on Raven (not really a fave), but it's still quality stuff. The new Blood is a bit creepy, whilst being a grade A pain in the butt at the same time. Hopefully Robin or one of the others will give him the ass whipping he deserves before the end of the story. And looking forward to Deathstroke and Ravager turning the heat up next ish.
Like I said, another goodie. B+

Well it had to happen, but I've finally come across a Geoff Johns series that leaves me disappointed. JSA, Flash, Hawkman, Avengers...fantastic stuff. And while Teen Titans has fantastic art (really the only thing that's keeping me on), the series has done nothing to wow me.
Every other book Johns has worked on, there was some hook that's I hadn't seen before. With JSA, it's the legacy and 3rd generation heroes angle. With Hawkman, he explored if love for a single person can endure after milennia of lifetimes. With Flash, it was the consequence of having a public identity.
Teen Titans? I haven't found the angle that's enough of a draw to keep me interested. Where do sidekicks spend their weekends? Because of Johns past works and the art, I'm probably hanging on longer with this book than with others that have captured my imagination.

And this perfectly sums up my thoughts on the book. It is good, the art is great, but I don't feel like it is a MUST READ/BUY and I will probably be dropping it if the next issue (or the end of the story arc) leaves me with the same middle ground feelings.
The two sub-plots that are holding my interest, albeit minimally:
The Superboy = Kal-El+Lex Luthor is fairly interesting, but I don't get the sense that this story will unfold in TT.
Bart and his place in the FLASH legacy
I was also never really too infuatuated with the earlier Titans' series, either.

I see the high concept of Teen Titans as being about young people trying to find their place in the world. However, this hasn't been explored as well as it probably could have yet because Johns is still working on getting all the team members that he wants in place. Hopefully, as soon as the Raven thing is sorted out we can see more character development.
But I think he's been doing a great job so far despite the fact the Raven storyline. We've seen Robin dealing with his problems with his father (this is fleshed out much more in Robin's own book). We've seen Superboy dealing with his origins. Kid Flash trying to find his place in and trying to live up to the Flash legacy. And Wondergirl deal with her Amazonian/mythological heritage. Of course, all of these things have been moving along very slowly. I admit that much. But that's a lot of problems being handled by a lot of characters. You can't take care of that kind of stuff correctly in a fast manner.

I haven't entirely enjoyed everything I have read by Johns but when he is on he is shining bright. Now Teen Titans is series that has been gold for the most part since it started. It had it's points where it dipped in quality but never to the point where it is anything less than a good book. This inparticuler issue was definatly a high point for the series. The new Brother Blood was very menacing. Superboy's developement as a character is phenomenal in this issue has it' been since the begining, it almost makes me wish he had his own series again. I know that I am prasing this book a lot but it is only because this is one of the best titles out there right now and it deserves the praise.
I give this issue an A
cheers'
