View Full Version : Could Venom evolve and not need a host?
I think it be a cool idea seeing how the symbiote gotten powers like Spider-man, it could evolve and still be a threat to Peter/Spidey.

I didn't read past the first issue, but I think the first arc of the Jenkins/Ramos Spectacular Spider-Man dealt with the symbiote without a host. Although I'm not sure anymore.

Ugh. BAD, BAD, BAD Idea.
1) Evolution takes MILLIONS OF YEARS. Get it right.
2) The whole interesting thing about the venom persona is that it's not one person but two people thinking along similar lines - the host and the Symbiote. Just having the Symbiote would be like having just the Daleks in Doctor Who rather than the Assistant and the Doctor.
3) Our Symbiote is (slightly) more insane than the others, and "she" would never give up the thrill of possessing a host.

Venom is a female symbiote??
I didn't know that. I always knew it "loved" to possess Peter, but I thought it was an entity and not a "female" entity.

Well, I thought the symbiotes were hermaphrodites. I don't think the black symbiote needed to mate to produce the Carnage symbiote.

Up to the modern era it was mostly referred to as 'it', but Venom had referred to him (Eddie Brock), the Venom Symbiote and the Carnage Symbiote (which he had just devoured, proclaiming 'Welcome , Home, Baby!') as 'One Big Happy Family'.

Ever read Reign? Venom didn't need a host in that one.

That's like asking if Iron Man's suit can evolve and then star in the book fighting crime all by itself.
And thinking it will make a more interesting character.

your probably the only person who can make sense of the convoluted history of the Venom symbiote, I applaud you sir. :D

Thankyou. Someday, I will write for Venom, and then you'll see. For instance, one interesting fact is that every long-time user of a mature Symbiote has caught cancer; Carnage in the gut, then Venom in the brain. Maybe that's a survival trait...maybe their Costumes were making sure they wouldn't be abandoned by engendering the carciogens in their host bodies...

On second thought, Iron Suit could be an awesome series.
The Suit could always be on the lamb and one step ahead of Tony Stark, who's always trying to track down his lost Iron Man suit. Then it could like expose political corruption or a bank robbery and escape from the authorities in the nick of time. Then Stark would be like "BLAST YOU, IRON SUIT!! I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME, GADGET!!!" and then pan out.

Venom by itself though would suck monkey sack, as the most recent Venom series proves.

I love it, and the suit could seduce unsuspecting women who think Tony's inside and then... well I don't think theres much it could do, its a suit, but if it could it would be voracious.

IRONY: The original 'Sentient Suit' died to save Tony Stark, who had feared it too violent and tyrannical to be an adequate Iron Man. I would love it if the suit re-awakened, sought out Tony and gave him a speech that boiled down to: 'What was the point in me dying if your'e just going to do what I was doing...but WORSE?'

Ultron could always bring back its Stark-Spawn Living Armor at anytime.
Stark's artifiical heart is made from Ultron technology.
I guess some people don't like change.

1) Evolution takes MILLIONS OF YEARS. Get it right. But evolving the ability to shoot laser beams from your eyes is perfectly plausible.
Anyways, this is dumb idea.

That doesn't count as evolution unless it helps the person with the ability survive situations that everyone else cannot, and thus survive to pass it on to his children. As none of his Children have been able to shoot lasers from their eyes so far, and apart from a defence & being able to start fires it isn't that advantageous for survival, and so Cyclops hasn't "Evolved" it. He's just "Mutated", i.e., been born as an individual genetic deviant, once-in-a-lifetime.

Isn't Ultimate Carnage like that?
