You know, the artist that designed Kyle Rayner as GL and drew his book for a long time.
He was pretty good.
Anybody know where he is now?

I know he was an art professor at a university somewhere. This was back while he was also working on GL (Take that Kuberts!). I assume he just went back to teaching full time but I'm not sure.

Well, Wiki didn't have much, but here's A page of his art for sale (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=11377), no idea how old it is tho.

My friend asked this same question the other day. I really disliked his work on Green Lantern and was much happier when Eaglesham took over. That being said, I hope he's doing well.

University Professor, eh.
Well then, lets get on with...*THE SEARCH FOR DARRYL BANKS*!! ;) :D
I miss him and Tom Lyle who also went back to school to teach art at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

I believe Banks teaches a comic illustration class at The Columbus College of Art and Design. My girlfriend went there for one semester. She doesn't know him, or would care...

Actually in this interview he kind of disowns Kyle Rayner, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMtESCNZkMs
But Fatality apparently was his own creation.
She’s a great character and the definitive John Stewart rogue.
I love how he culled her from the Cosmic Odyssey saga.
In addition to his consistent and beautiful art, she’s one of the most memorable things to come out of that era.
And one of the better GL villains.
Now lets see DC put Banks on a John Stewart book IMIDIATLEY! And have the definitive John Stewart vs. Yrra Cynril war/romance.

The other kind of suck. The bad kind.
I should have just said "dogs are retarded and dog people deserve a special place in hell".

Darryl works mostly as an illustrator for various companies here in Central Ohio. But you can see some of his recent comic book work here on some Phantom covers for Moonstone (http://www.moonstonebooks.com/phantom.asp).
He graduated from CCAD, so it would make sense that he might teach there -- I didn't know that.
He goes to most of the cons in the area, including Mid-Ohio and Pittsburgh. I've interviewed him at a couple of them. I think he's done some G.I. Joe stuff recently for Devil's Due too.

You want them to 'experience' (hell) after death what the cat people do while living, eh. ;)

You coming up to Motor City Con again in May?
As for Daryl, he did the JLA/Specte: Soul War 2-parter in 2003, which I read over the weekend. Art was pretty, but I think DeMatteis was off his game on this mini and Hal's series (well, the last 7 or 8 issues of Hal's series were decent).

Not sure about that con. I'll have to get back to ya. The aforementioned trip to Italy is breaking my bank, and no offense, but Motor City isn't my favorite con. But it's so close I might.
That said, it would be cool to see you again. I still haven't filled all those long boxes you gave me. I really appreciate that.
DeMatteis is doing a fill-in for someone soon, isn't he? I saw his name on a solicitation somewhere. My daughters and I are getting impatient for the next Abadazad book. Those books are awesome.

Yeah, I just saw that too re JMD. Took me awhile to find it, but he's writing Wetworks #10.
As for Motor City Con, can't disagree with you, but it is close. Maybe I'll hit Wizard World Chicago one of these years.

i always liked darryl banks. his initial design for kyle raynor is still my favorite version of his character. the crab shell mask was great, something different from the normal robin/spirit looking thing. i really wish he'd go back to that look.
