Judging by a lot of the reactions I've read I might be the only buyer who actually liked this book. I liked Silvestri's art a lot and thought the Thunderbolts segment was very cool. Also liked seeing Spider Woman kicking hell out of the Grey Gargoyle.

somehow reading this makes me think of the geico cavemen getting their own tv pilot !! i mean this book was nothing but a glorified trailer of books to come

I also liked this book and I think alot of people did, but most peoples problem was the $4.99 price tag. With all those previews at the back the size of this comic was misleading and I think $3.99 would have been fairer.

I didnt know Sasquatch was still alive though that was well cool. Cant wait til Omega Flight

Good news. I liked this issue even given the inflated price. The art was fabulous and the stories were enjoyable.

Most of the reviews and postings I have seen on the 'Rama have been negative. I love me some Sylvestri art, but if everthing is a re-hash, advertisement for things that have already been seen, is it really worth the price tag? I want to buy this, I just don't want to get burned by Marvel AGAIN.

Edit : I shouldn't say they have been negative, just that the book was overhyped and overpriced. Anyone want to give me a yay or nay on whether I should or shouldn't pick it up?

Big surprise. Anyway, I found this issue very disappointing and that it contained little of consequence -- nothing there that hadn't been handled already in other books.

I was very nicely surprised with this issue, and it's setting up the Marvel Universe post-civil war in a very nice way... Very good story.

I'll wait for the half off back issue sale at my retailer for this one if I get it at all. I love all the creators, but I'm not that rich. Plus, since I plan on buying Thunderbolts and the Mighty Avengers in Trade, there's a chance this will be included in those trades.

Thats because (and no perosnal slight here to anyone in particular) most reviews and postings on the 'Rama about Marvel books period are negative.

I liked it. dind't think it would sell out and the hefty price tag would have been more justified, IMO, if those preview pages had been more original content, but I'm not about to go all up in arms about it. End of the day, I spent 2 more dollars than I would have normally. Big friggin whoop.

The POINT is that the ONE book was $4.99. ONE book. I saw no need for everyone to get their panties in a twist because one damn book was a couple bucks more. Cap was $3.99 last week and no one seemed to notice, but how dare they charge five bucks for that 64 page monster.

If EVERY 32 page book went up, there might be room to bitch, but then again, that's not what i said at all, now is it. Thus your point is completely negated. but hey, way to come up with constructve and positive feedback.

It isn't an ongoing. Avengers: Initiative is the on going title. This book was just the origins of several books, and previews of others (kinda ruined Cap #25 for me)

Charging 4.99 for this book was absurd!

It should have been $1. I don't buy comics to read ads, and that was all this was. I can't believe they have the stones to do a 2nd print on this and still charge $5.

If anyone hasn't bought it yet, save your money...

I've been reading comics regularly since 1997, and although this will sound like nothing more than Internet hyperbole, I can honestly say that this book was the biggest waste of $4.99 I've ever spent in my life. I've been buying a lot of comics lately so I felt really gouged and that I was bending over and taking one in the bullseye from Marvel. $4.99 for just a regular sized comic? That's really all it was. All the other pages were just pages from books that I had already bought or was going to buy anyway. Joe Quesada and the entire Marvel staff should be ashamed of themselves of putting out that piece of garbage.

It was not a 64 page monster. It was a regular sized comic with pages from other comics printed in it. The pages were from comics that, if you've bought Civil War: The Initiative, you were probably going to buy anyway.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I really like Marvel these days, but this comic was fukcing ridiculous!

I liked the issue myself. Nice art (I've been a big fan of E.Bas since meeting him at the SD comic con a few years back), and some interesting glimpses of things to come in the various spinoff series.

Honestly, I did not even notice the price tag. That's kinda pricy! Oh well, enjoyed it anyway. :)

I agree $4.99 is expensive for a comic that was half previews. But I bought it for the art. Silvestri really knocked it out the park. But, yeah, $4.99 for some previews does seem like a waste. Guess it helps to remember that even comics are a business.
