Press Release

Marvel is pleased to announce that Iron Man #15 has sold out at Diamond. As Tony Stark begins his new job as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., writers Daniel and Charles Knauf and artist Roberto de la Torre have brought about the reemergence of one of Iron Man’s greatest nemeses that is sure to rock the Marvel U.

To fulfill the demand for this first issue of an all-new era of Iron Man, Marvel is going back to press on Iron Man #15 with a new cover featuring artist Roberto De La Torre's gorgeous splash page from the issue.

This bold new direction for Iron Man, following the universe-altering events of Civil War, has been met with praise from critics.

Mike Williams of SilverBulletComicsBooks.com says, “It’s a changing of the guard -- a change in the status quo -- and perfectly reflects one of the main goals of the Civil War event.”

“The stage seems to be set for some interesting stories with a lot of great tension inside of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” says Newsarrama.com.

Note, Iron Man #15 may still be available at the retailer level. Marvel advises that retailers check their orders for upcoming issues as the title continues to garner new readers following Iron Man’s high profile role in the best-selling Civil War event.

I think that marvel has put Iron Man in a good place to tell some very interesting stories. Now if they could just do that with the Fantastic Four

I'm a big-time Iron Man fan and so I avoided Civil War because I didn't want to see my hero look bad. I was concerned about whether I could enjoy his book in the aftermath, but I must say I really enjoyed #15. It's an interesting direction and I'm looking forward to upcoming issues of Iron Man more than I have at least since Disassembled.

Great news. This was a rather good issue and well done to everyone involved. It's good that it will get a second printing.

Looks like Marvel Finally got this book to be interesting. A downfall is using the interior for a second printing cover. When will Marvel stop this?

Why do you think it is a downfall, DL?

Marvel should put brand new covers on reprints and not take the easy/cheap way of taking from the interior of the same book. They may sell well, but Marvel can do better than this. I collect some reprints, but will never buy one of these.

I'm not especially a fan of using interior artwork on the cover either. Looks a bit cheap and tacky IMHO. I know it saves on the cost of having to get someone to draw a new cover, but it doesn't exactly excite me to see something like that.

I totally agree with this. I also am not a fan of the current cover artist for Iron Man. When compared with the Iron Man: Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. cover by Granov, the Perel covers look horrible.
