<blockquote>This March, Image Comics is offering readers who still haven't discovered INVINCIBLE a chance to try the series out for only $1.99. Featuring the start of a brand-new story arc and a complete recap of the series so far, INVINCIBLE #42 is the best jumping on point since issue #1.

Written by Robert Kirkman and featuring art by Ryan Ottley and colorist Bill Crabtree, INVINCIBLE #42 starts fresh after the devastating events of the Mars storyline concluding in issue #41.

"Mark has just saved the world, and it's not the first time, but everyone saw it happen," said Kirkman. "We're going to really start exploring Invincible's standing with the public starting with issue #42. Things are going to be a bit different from now on, and it's an excellent time for anyone who's been on the fence to finally take the plunge and find out what INVINCIBLE is all about."

Since its debut, INVINCIBLE has received widespread critical acclaim, with everyone from ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY to WIZARD to G4 TV's ATTACK OF THE SHOW and Comedy Central's COMEDIANS OF COMEDY singing the title's praise. In 2004, Paramount Pictures optioned INVINCIBLE for a feature film, with Kirkman himself attached to write the screenplay.

"INVINCIBLE continues to be one of our most popular titles," stated Image Executive Director Eric Stephenson. "Sales continue to climb on both the single issues and the collections, but we still hear about people who haven't given it a chance. INVINCIBLE #42 is an excellent jumping-on point for those folks."

INVINCIBLE #42, a 24-page comic book in the Image Slimline format priced at $1.99, is available for order now (FEB071908) in the February issue of Previews and will go on sale April 25.<?blockquote>

I've read the first two hardcovers, and I have loved every issue of the book. It's nice to see them doing a cheaper, jump-on issue for people who have missed out so far! Well worth your $2

How sad that $1.99 is considered a "retro price." I'm getting old!

Thank God. I've been having problems getting back into this book because I always feel like I missed something and I don't really have enough cash to really catch up on the backstories.

I stopped reading "Invincible" after the 6th trade. Have I missed much?

This and Walking Dead are 2 of my absolute favorites out there... They are both comic books that are a joy to read, without all the baggage the BIG 2 carry....

i read the 1st hardcover, and went out and bought every issue.

cool. I get anything Invincible regardless, but at least now I get a cheaper issue!

It'd be nice to see this in conjunction with marketing that goes outside of comics...and those who already know who Invincible is.

Great idea, regardless.

Go man go!!!

I've followed it in trades at the library and haven't been disappointed yet. Really good book. This looks like a possible opening for me to actually start picking it up.

I'm finally getting my copy of The Complete Invincible Library Volume 1 next week. I'm collecting these in Invincible in these "Absolute" editions, not singles. I don't mind waiting for a few years.

Anybody know when book 8 is actually coming out? I thought it was supposed to be out in February, but apparently that didn't happen. Thanks for your help.

Looking foward to the issue as I do all Invincible issues.

I'm wary though its actually going to hit that April 25th release date. The book is already a few months behind.

I think it's awesome to give new readers an incentive like this, especially an in indy book. invincible never was my cup of tea. I read something like 30 issues and just couldn't get into it. I'm not sure why. i just didn't dig it.

Bravo at a $1.99 price point, though. That's just a really sweet move.

Well I hate to be the one to point out reality here but if a cheaper comic than this didn't bring droves of readers to Invincible before then why should this?

Wasn't there a 25 cent or $0.99 cent issue before?

Anyway, cheaper comics is always a good thing so I'm not really knocking this at all! Even one more new reader is a good thing, right? :D

This title is, bar none, the BEST superhero comic being produced today.

39 issues and not ONE bad issue yet. Great, great, GREAT stuff.

I cannot stress how great this book is.

I just bought the 6th and 7th trades a few days ago which only go up to #35 so will the next trade be out in time to bridge the gap.

Heh! I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one scratching my head when I saw that price associated with the words "retro." That age thing seems to be creeping up on a quite a few of us. :D

A consistently awesome book -- highly recommended for those who haven't tried it yet. I already get it, and it'll be nice to have a cheaper issue.
