<i>Press Release</i>
<blokquote>Marvel is pleased to announce that the third issue of the Immortal Iron Fist series has sold out at Diamond. The series continues to capture readers with a story that’s both enthralling and action packed. Writers Ed Brubaker and Matt Fraction and artists David Aja and Travel Foreman have officially re-established Danny Rand as a key player in the Marvel Universe.
Koben Kelly at Newsarama.com says that the story is “full of originality and energy” and that Immoral Iron Fist series “is easily predicted to last a long time.”
Skip Scherer at Comicbloc.com believes that this is “one of the best takes on Iron Fist in a long time.”
Tonya Crawford at Broken Frontier advises, “If you’ve never read Iron Fist before then this is the perfect title to jump on with.”
This sellout marks the third issue of the series to sell out at Diamond. At this time, Marvel has no plans to go back to press on this issue.
Issues # 3 might still be available at the retailer level, as are the second printings of issues # 1 and # 2. Marvel advises that retailers check their orders for the rest of the series as it continues to garner new readers.

My first Newsarama post:
I am loving everything coming out by these 2 writers. I just scrambled and picked up the entire first arc of Fraction's Casanova (after reading the first issue here on Newsarama.com) and Brubaker's DD is the best book I read every month. Iron Fist was such a surprise, as he was never a character I took seriously before, but he is being handled so well by these 2, I really see this book becoming a definitive run for this character.

This sellout marks the third issue of the series to sell out at Diamond.
Time for retailers to start upping those initial orders instead of writing IMMORTAL IRON FIST off as something that will be cancelled by the 12th issue.

Time for retailers to start upping those initial orders instead of writing IMMORTAL IRON FIST off as something that will be cancelled by the 12th issue.3rd issue sellouts don't mean the 10th through 12th issue will be a sell out too. He's just hot right now, and deservedly so thanks to Brubaker. Get back to me in few months when the first arc is over and people have had time to reflect if the series was worth continuing. Iron Fist and Spider-woman are nostalgic characters, and Marvel has been in a retro mood lately because of Bendis. These retro ideas come and go and rarely stick around.
I would love to see this series stick around but I just don't see its hair-triggered popularity sustaining it very long.

Perhaps not - and frankly I agree with you - but I've gotta give Marvel props for apparently doing everything in their power to get people reading this book by continually putting out these press releases.

It's impressed me. I had heard that it was already struggling with sales. I'm not always able to stay on top of all the new series coming out. So when I do hear about something and it's already slated for cancellation...let's just say I've become hooked on far too many short-lived series. :(
Glad I heard wrong. I'll give it a look when I get back to the store. :)

This is a measured, calculated project. (something rare from Marvel) Marvel will do what they have to do to get and keep the character on the upswing.
He's had a really shaky history but its time for him to become the A-list character he has the potential to be.
This series has only begun to scratch the surface of what you can expect from Iron Fist.

If they were doing EVERYTHING in their power to get people on-board, they'd be reprinting #3 to go along with #s 1 and 2.

This is one book that may have benefited from its first issue being a Civil War tie-in for some extra eyes reading. Instead that honor went to Heroes for Hire, which... not to put anyone down but is anyone actually enjoying that book? Sad, too, because some very talented people work on it.

#1, 2& 3 all sold out?
Are retailers trying to ruin this book?
Get the hint already people LOVE it.
P.S: hope Marvel stops trying to force Ms. Marvel on us and give the people what they want… a Sentry ongoing.

This is one of the better new titles out there.
I just love how Brubaker has made a second tier character this interesting.
I hope they keep the entire creative team on board for the long haul.

Didn't they say they weren't reprinting 1 and 2, at the time they announced those sell-outs? Then they reprint 1, even with the director's cut coming.
This is definately good news, although the recent sales figures showed a drop in sales from #1 to #2, so I wonder how this is called selling out (since #2 did as well).
It looks like the series is still pulling decent numbers...1 was at around 50k and I think 2 was 43-45k...is that on-par for series like this?
