For all Batman fans out there (still) wondering how to order their trades & comics in reading order, or for those curious to find out if X issue of Nightwing happened before Y issue of Batman (without reading 4-5 issues again), or if you're just looking for the names of creators of a certain issues, here's the link to a .pdf & html document (50 pages) of my exhaustive "personal" continuity.
html: http://www.box.net/shared/nqx3nlcecq
pdf: http://www.box.net/shared/tyrreear7a
It includes most post-crisis on infinite earths Batman-related stories, so pretty much any batman title (and related characters) that has been published after 86/87 should be in there somewhere... except elseworlds, a few (IMO uninteresting) GNs and some (ok, lots) LotDK story arcs... and the pre-crisis stuff of course (though I'm slowly working at incorporation some more of these stories that are still relevant).
There's still some stuff I need to insert, but I've listed whatever is pending/missing in the notes section at the end, and figuring out where they fit in shouldn't be too much of a problem others (except for the JLA and Gotham Central stuff).
It's a work in progress, so don't hesitate to give me your feedback/comments.

Dude, you get the vote for "Most likely to need to switch to decaf by 30" - wow! Totally interesting, great format - very user-friendly.
Does anyone you know have a similar one for Superman?
This is why the internet was created - free flow of ideas and info.
Thanks for sharing.

Cheers for all the feedback and encouragement ! (and advice... yeah, I'm actually 30 and a coffee fiend who considers decaf heresy... how 'd you guess?)
As I mentionned it's a work in progress, so I'll be updating it every now and then as I insert more stuff (and correct a few mistakes...).
Box.net randomley asigns a new public URL every now and then (even if I just replace the file) so I'll come back on this thread and post the new links everytime I update.
As for that Superman thing... mmm...it's not that I would really mind spending another year or so of my free time working on something like this for an our or two a week (it's been fun going through those "old" books), but the thing is I've only read or own a grand total of about 50 superman comics so I hardly feel "qualified" for such an endeavour. (though I am currently working on fiiting the Death of Superman + his return in my list as a reference point for fans of the Man of Steel).
Thanks again!

I haven't looked at it too thoroughly, but that's a seriously great list. Probably the best I've seen.
It'd be sorta cool if you could start slipping in some pre-crisis (but in-continuity) Batman stories into it. Oh, and you forgot to put Matt Wagner's two recent minis in there.

Dude, this is unbelievably awesome, and you should be commended for your work!
Props to you!

Here's the latest version of the list (fixed some classification errors for Batman and Tec 1991 issues (gordon's stroke)).

Oki, here's the latest update of my post-crisis Batman continuity list
Just Added:
- Both Batman / Punisher books
- Underground Railroad (last missing NML core title arc not in there)
- JLA: The Tornado's Path
- Green Arrow: Seeing Red
- Scream If You Love Me from 1998 Batman Villains secret files and origins
- 3 stories from 1997 Batman secret files and origins
Also, even though they're still listed in the "Insertion Uncertain" category in the notes, I've decided not too include the Matt Wagner Dark Moon Rising series (Monster Men and Mad Monk) for various reasons. Not because I disliked them, but because they (Monster Men at least) "clash" too much with Prey and the initial post-crisis interpretation of Hugo Strange. For those who are wondering where "exactly" they would fit, I would put Monster Men between "Catwoman: Year One" and "Prey," and Mad Monk would go between "Prey" and "Gothic."
No changes / corrections otherwise (that I remeber as I post this)
So there you go. I don't think I'll have much time to update this until WWIII starts at least, but I'll definitely come back once I get some more done.
As always, feedback, is more than welcome.
Cheers!

I'll try to find some time this week to go and edit the previous links!

Latest update (April 12th). Links are in first thread.
New books added:
Batman Annual #23 (JLApe)
Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters
Vigilante #47 (Batman)
Birds of Prey #28-30
Azrael 52-62 (No Man's Land Tie-Ins)
52 #49 (latest issue) All I'm suggesting is editing the first one, everytime you add stuff. There's no need to edit each one after that. The first one's the most important, though. (if you want to edit previous ones to take out the link, that's a thought too.) Or, instead of adding the links to the end, only keep the new link at the top. Then, pop down to the end and tell us what books you added. That way, there's NO confusion for those of us that have subbed to this thread. I've made my quoted of you an example of what I'm talking about.

It's back! My (not that) new and (really not) greatly improved list of +/- 2000 Bat-related stories in chronological reading order. Available, as always, in html or pdf flavour:
Recent additions include:
-Early Suicide Squad stories (including Oracle ones) and the Phoenix Gambit (featuring Batman)
-The Scottish Connection (decided to put it back in there since it's not that bad and provides info on the Wayne lineage)
-Selina's Big Score (completely missed that one !?!!?)
-Some early (Dixon) BOP that was not in there.
-The issues of Azrael tying-in with / happening after BW: Murderer/Fugitive
-Detective #573 & 574 (finally !!)
-The Chalice GN.
-The Question #2 (Batman appearance)
-"Ghosts" Batman Annual (#22 IIRC).
-"The clown at midnight" prelude to Joker's Last Laugh from Last Laugh Seret Files.
-Stories from the BOP Secret Files and Origins.
-More issues of 52 dealing with the Question/Montoya/Batwoman/The Crime Bible/World War III + WWIII one-shots
-Titans East ("featuring" Batgirl)
-Countdown & Amazons Attack so far
-Recent issues of Nightwing, Robin & Catwoman.
-Many others that I probably forgot about by now.
And, last but not least....
Some will be happy to know that I've decided to insert Dark Moon Rising (Monster Men and Mad Monk) in there.
As well as Strange Apparitions, Dark Detective, and Batman 217 & 348 (Bruce leaving for the penthouse then returning to Wayne Manor), as well as Batman 354 (which explains the Hugo Strange "Ghost" in Strange Apparitions). More goodies from that era that don't contradict this contemporary Batman "continuity" to come soon...
As always, feedback/questions are more than welcome!

Sweet, I was trying to figure out where Gothic went.
One suggestion, for stories that are either back-ups, or short stories in a book, maybe mark those as being part of a larger book?
As for the Superman suggestion...it shouldn't be as difficult as Batman, with the triangle numbers, plus fewer "after-the-fact" stories (like LOTDK), and no pre-Crisis stories that count.

Thanks. I was toying with the idea initially, then, out of laziness mostly, I decided to put it aside, but you're absolutely right... it is a bit confusing this way (even for me when looking for a specific story), so I'll definitely take you up on that and indicate which Tec stories are Backups.
Look for it in the next 2 or 3 updates.

sorry... not that big of a supes fan (like I said I think I must own like 3 Superman trades or something, so I'm hardly "qualified" for that).
June 15th Update
Added:
Tenses
Catwoman/Batgirl & Catwoman/Oracle
Detective 572 Anniversary issue feat. Sherlock Holmes
Countdown 46
Green Arrow 73-75

I figured as much. I was just putting it out there if someone wanted to take it and run.
I would do it myself, but I'm missing too many of the early issues.

June 29th Update / Latest version (old links will be deactivated shortly)
html: http://www.box.net/shared/nqx3nlcecq
pdf: http://www.box.net/shared/tyrreear7a
New insertions:
- Detective #405 (First League of Assassins story / Tales of the Demon "Prelude")
- Gotham Central #1 to 24 and #26 to 36 (Finally... it's done!)
- Uneven Parallels (Spoiler Story from Showcase 95 #5)
- Batman: The Ankh (Decided to insert this after all)
- Josie Mac: Trading Up ('Tec Backup Story)
- Latest issues of JLA, Catwoman, Amazons Attack, Countdown etc...
Changes / corrections:
- As per bluedevil2002's excellent suggestion, ALL Detective backup stories are now marked as "(backup)" after the issue number.
- An error in the positioning of Selina's Big Score has been rectified.
- The Wonder Woman Amazons Attack prelude/tie-ins issues have been REMOVED (that sh!t sucks & makes no sense)
Coming up:
-Since I've "officially" HAD IT with Countdown's pace/content, and the fact that it is a continuity NIGHTMARE, I will no longer be systematically putting every issue in there. Like 52, I will only pick-up certain issues from now on and only insert those that will DIRECTLY deal with Batman / the Batman Family.
-I'll do one more update in about 3 weeks, once both Tec' 834 and Batman 666 are out. I should be done inserting the missing issues of the 1990 Huntress series and the Josie Mac: Lost Voices backup arc.
After that, it'll probably be a while until I actually post any updates since the next update after that will probably contain... (roll drums)
A COVER THUMBNAIL FOR EACH ISSUE!!!!
I did a few test and it won't be too long or complicated inserting them. The real b!tch is going to be getting/finding images for all of it and batch-processing them down to a standard size... but if (I said IF) everything goes well the new "illustrated" version of the list should be ready sometime in late August.
So there you go, as always comments, suggestions and booboo notifications are welcome.
Later!
