Press Release

The Civil War is over and the Pro-Registration heroes led by Iron Man have prevailed. Now, the Initiative has begun and is in full-effect in the pages of Iron Man #15, on-sale now, where Tony Stark has taken over as the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Plus, the shockwaves from the end of Civil War continue to be felt throughout the Marvel Universe in two Civil War epilogues as Ben Urich and Sally Floyd reveal the traitor of the Pro-Registration forces in Civil War Front Line #11 and Black Panther and Storm tackle the clone of Thor on Civil War’s final battlefield in Black Panther #25.

If you thought Civil War changed the Marvel Universe, you will not want to miss the Initiative titles on-sale next week because even more earth-shattering status quo changes are in store for your favorite heroes.

Civil War: The Initiative, written by Brian Bendis and Warren Ellis with art by Marc Silvestri, introduces the new directions for Iron Man, the Mighty Avengers, the New Avengers, the Thunderbolts as well as the first appearance of the new Omega Flight.
Captain America #25 kicks off an incredibly shocking new era for Steve Rogers following his imprisonment at the end of Civil War that will have comicdom talking for months to come.

And pick up Fantastic Four #543 as a new chapter begins for the First Family of Comics as Reed, Sue, Ben, and Johnny come together to decide if the Fantastic Four is really no more. Who comes? Who goes? You can only find out in Fantastic Four #543.
And in two weeks, Civil War: The Confession hits stand by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev as the Eisner Award-Winning creative team bring to you the two heroes most affected by Civil War coming together one last time. You must read this issue to see where they go from here!

In SAW/Mad Max like fashion Cap saws his own arm off to escape.

And then realises the other end of the handcuffs weren't actually attached to anything!

There are some nice kick-ass titles in that list. Can't wait to read the ones I'm going to pick up.

Indeed. :D

I've been a Marvel fan for 22 years now and I'm loving the current direction of things. Thought I'd get that in before this thread fills up with negative comments and people moaning about not wanting to buy any of these ;)

I hated Civil War, still do. But I'm looking forward to some of the stories coming out of it, stories not written by Millar or Jenkins.

You've been a Marvel fan for a few more years than I have lived. Scary thought. Anyhow I totally agree, I'm also loving the new direction. It's pretty exciting. I just wish I had all the cash and time to buy everything.

Same here. Loved it and Civil War means I'll be buying a few more Marvels.

Hmmm Civil War turned out to be one of the worst Marvel Events ever (Shame on you Mr. Millar. How could you drop the ball like that?), but what comes out of it might be entertaining again.

I started reading Spider-Man, Transformers and Action Force/GI Joe when I was 5, and I've never stopped. Civil War has certainly been one of my favourite stories in all that time :)

Well, it's because I think Civil War changed the Marvel U that I won't buy these books :(

I wouldn't say he dropped the ball, because there are plenty of people who really liked it (including me). :) Just because you didn't care for it doesn't mean Millar has to be ashamed of it or something along those lines.

Oh I care for it.

But in my opinion the whole event turned into a litte fiasco around issue 4. The first 3 issue got a 10 out of 10 in my book.

There where all things available for making CW something special, something memorable. But then Mr. Millar played it save in my book and what we got was an average Marvel Event with a veeeeeeeeery questionable message in the end.

Black Panther and Storm tackle the clone of Thor
on Civil War’s final battlefield in Black Panther #25.

Just one thing...

How can Black Panther and Storm take care of Clor?
If i recall correctly, Hercules pretty much "took care"of Clor,
by smashing his head in with his own "Mjolnir" replica.:p

In BP #25 Storm fights Clor, than Hercules steps in and Storm and Sue watch Hercules pound Clor (off panel, we just see their reactions).

Have you actually read BP #25? :p ;)

Well, it pretty much sums up what I and a lot of other people have been saying:

"While I may have ultimately enjoyed Civil War, despite certain details, the real problem is that the resolution has not been felt, and we are going to have to buy many more comics before we finally feel a 'status quo' rather than just the fallout of an 'event'."

And look at how many comics Marvel's wanting us to buy. Some of those simply lead into other comics we need to read. Hey, I like comics, and chances are I'm going to pick up most of these (the only comic solicited that I haven't dug so far is The Champions). But I also like real endings.

I understand that Marvel wants to capitalize on the new readership. But I have a feeling its less new fans, and more older fans who are just willing to shelve out more money because they want a feeling of completeness to this storyline involving pretty much ALL our favorite characters.

(I mean, I thought Alpha Flight was safe with their near-death in New Avengers, but turns out, it was just the means to a revamp)

Ah well, thanks for the info.

I'd rather Bru get the chance to write in any direction he wants to for the Cap'n, but I really don't think this is going to curb his talent in the least. I liked Civil War, but I think I'll love the aftermath, and I hope this status quo lasts a long time.

If this is the same Iron Man 15 that I just read then its not Zircher who pencils but de la Torre I think his name is (the guy who used to do Ms Marvel).

Also, despite the fact that I'm getting all of these titles and am looking foward to most of them I dont like that they are being advertised as Initiative titles. It just seems like a ploy by Marvel mislead people into buying more Civil War related titles.

Dont get me wrong, they're good titles but many of them have little or nothing to do with the '50 State Initiative'. They could call them 'Fallout' or something as Initiative refers more to Dan Slotts book, Champions and the New Thunderbolts.

Stuart Immonen, Yannick Paquette, Steve McNiven and David Finch are Canadian. Could you imagine any of these artists on this book? Tho I hear Scott Kollins is changing his style and using ink washes so it might turn out ok.

Can we please just go back to self-contained character driven stories? We have to endure YET ANOTHER round of " We interrupt your regularly scheduled comic for this exciting new series with 182 crossovers and poor storytelling". STOP making talent like Brubaker, Simone ( yes DC I'm looking at you-freaking Countdown) and others write good chapters to a crappy story. Have we forgotten so soon what crap like this can do to the industry? It better deliver the goods-Marvel has earned themselves NO room for error after the absolute failure that Civil War was

How does Omega Flight fall into the Initiative, the 50 State initiative? Canada is a different country. Guess I'll need to get the issue to find out.

first off... hey Deathmaster J... haven't seen you on the JBL boards in a while... great bumping into you here... don't know if you still lurk at JBL or not, but you should say hi...

as for Initiative... I'm referring to it what it really is... the second half of Civil War. This story, along with assorted Civil War branded books, keep the story going until June or July.

Doesn't mean I'm not getting it... I'm a total CW whore and am getting it all... :D

Yo! I recently posted there... in the For Sale section I'm afraid, selling all my figures off. Still a big fan of the comic and will always get that (as I have since I was a kid), but time/space/money has required me to sell off all my figures. :(

He asked how BP and Storm could fight Clor when Clor was defeated by Hercules, so I simply pointed out what happened in BP#25, which is set alongside CW#7. Simple.

However, by commenting on a comic he hasn't actually read, Kusanagi comes off as foolish and even dishonest. Would you trust a review from a critic who never saw the movie? Me neither.

So, deathmasterj is correct in calling out Kusanagi for on commenting on BP #25 as if he read the issue.
