As it says which ones do you buy?

This is not saying that all of these are going to be created these are just theoretical.
Lets also assume that the 5 (waid, morrison, johns, rucka, giffen) main drivers behind 52 are the creative teams.

You expect us to pick comics without knowing the exact creative team?

I would like to write the Ralph title.

I will call it "Elongated & Wife."

As I said above, pretend its the same creative teams behind 52.
so the characters would be treated almost exactly like they are in 52,

I dunno man thats a good title but I really like The worlds Stretchiest detective.

As I answered in the other thread:

Ralph Dibny...

...with Sue back, alive, non-zombie, non-evil, non-other earth, same age, same sex (both as before) and with him.

Other than that, (depending on the creative team) will give the Steel and Animal Man series a try.

As for a strick no-no, Booster Gold and anything to do with a Question (who is not Vic Sage).

I guess I have to say it again....The Great Ten!
And they just missed a chance for a tie-in with Chinese New Year.

I'd buy Steel for sure.

I'd buy any Adam Strange project as long as Animal Man, Stafire, Jim Starlin and Lobo were nowhere to be found.

I'd try Question if Rene Montoya is the main character.

I'd try Booster Gold if it was a great creative team and not a BWAH HA HA type book.

No dice for Ralph or Black Adam under any circumstances

I've always liked Steel anyway, so I'd be happy to buy another Steel series (even if he had the worst story in 52). Otherwise, the Question with Vic Sage as he was written in JLU would be fantastic.

The Spirit

the question. assuming the writer knew how to write a crime/detective story. and the art was a little gritty.

How about the Question (Montoya) and Batwoman with a 'Moonlighting' twist and some gratuitous lesbianism?

How about the Question (Montoya) and Batwoman with a 'Moonlighting' twist and some gratuitous lesbianism?
Why not have Vic back as the Question, and Cassie Cain as Batgirl (or even Batwoman)...

...thus freeing Montoya and Kane for teh aforementioned 'gratuitous lesbianism'?

Based on the way this completely scientific poll is currently going Ralph better make it out alive or a very large portion of the target audiences dollars will be lost.

None or all, just depends on what creative crews are on what, just like with every comic I buy.

JimShelley

Black Adam on his own is sort of a redundant grim and gritty Superman.

I would only buy a Black Adam series if his hair was long and blonde and he didn't remember his past and had the power of a million suns...that's the only way to fix such a character.

...hm, lots of people should get thrown in the sun too. That really helps define a character.

:D

Seriously thought - I'd like a Question series, Vic or Montoya would be fine.

NeroMan

Question, but only if it's by Rucka

SouthtownKid
02-20-2007, 08:56 AM
Possibly Question, depending on creative team and premise.

I like Black Adam, but I think he works better as part of an ensemble cast, like he did in JSA. DC would feel the need to dilute his character too much if he were to star in his own series. The last thing I want is what happened to Catwoman to happen to him.

Starlord

Yeah, same here.

The others ? Depends on the creative teams.

I don't think any of the characters that have been done in 52 could support a regular series yet.

That includes the Question. And Ralph. I don't think a straight detective title would play today. A backup in another book, yeah, but not a full title.

And I haven't heard about any coming out either. Instead they choose to go with a new Fate book, a move that surprises me.

I think we'll see a couple more minis this year, all tying into What's Coming Next, and if we see any new books it'll be after the aforementioned WCN.

Black Adam family book and a Montoya Question.

edit: Batwoman either needs to be integrated into the Batman family or she needs a new identity.

I voted for the first 4 choices. I want a Steel series the most, after the events of 52 Week 40. I might buy a Black Adam series, but it depends on how his story ends. I don't think I would buy a Question series starring Montoya. I really came to like Vic Sage over the course of 52, and it would be him I would want to read about.

Steel, Booster/Supernova & Ralph Dibny (but make him a paranormal detective).

The rest I'm kinda "meh" about. Black Adam is cool, but I don't see how he can continue in the DCU. He's basically a magical & political version of The Hulk--sooner or later he *has* to be taken down.

I dont completely agree with that.
Black Adam can be reasoned with, The Hulk cannot.
My entire basis on Black Adam is that I need to see how this story goes. I really do not want to see the same old same old happen.
Villain turns good, villain has something bad happen villain goes evil again. I know thats how it looks like it is going to go but I just dont want to see it.
Personally at this point I think that Amanda Waller will have a larger role in this than we have yet seen.
Maybe Adam doesnt turn evil but Waller makes everyone think he does and thats what starts WWIII.

Out of the choices above... Ralph Dibny but you're missing one.......

What happens when all the Evil Mad Scientists get off Oolong Island? What happens when the Intergang gravy train ends? A lot of crazy bad guys are going to be looking to sell some bad stuff and/or take over the world. So who ya gonna call?...........................

I think Montoya as the Question probably actually is being set up for a future ongoing or miniseries by Rucka (or perhaps to join Checkmate). I don't particularly think any of the other characters are, although I imagine there are plans to use any of them that survive somewhere.

Black Adam can be reasoned with, The Hulk cannot. That depends upon which Hulk we're talking about--rampaging monster Hulk or smart Hulk. But honestly, both versions still come to the inevitable conclusion, imo. An unpredictable being of that immense power level would have to be destroyed. (But yeah, I know, Marvel isn't going to kill off a cash cow character like him.:p) But the Frankenstein monster parallel applies.

Black Adam is in a similar boat, imo. Not that he's the DCU's Frankenstein monster, but that he's immensely powerful and unpredictable. Adam is from a different time and works by a different set of values, plus he has the power of his gods to back up his opinions. He's basically Captain Marvel without the humanizing grounding rod innocent child Billy Batson aspect.

And the rest of the DCU has to ask themselves is "What happens next?" Would Black Adam be satisfied just running his little country if he sees pain and suffering elsewhere? In his mind, he's shown his and Isis's methods work, so if the world won't listen to him, shouldn't he save them from themselves?

I tell ya, it can, would and will(?) make for one hell of a story, but it has to have an end to it (imo, of course;)).

I'm more interested in Renee as the Question than I ever was in the other guy, so I'd probably check out a series if she was in it.

I'd probably check out Ralph and Animal Man. Never much cared for the Steel comic or Booster Gold on his own.

Steel, Booster, and Space team. I would pick up Black Adam if it was the right project, but I'm not as interested in the Black Marvel family as I am in the crazy team Adam put together in JSA.

the crazy team Adam put together in JSA.Yeah, Northwind was a badass and that's probably the only time I've liked Eclipso. And "Black Reign" pretty much came outta nowhere (in a good way), hit hard and fast and kicked much ass.

Steel, Question, Black Adam and Ralph providing they have good/great creative teams. I've liked Animal Man on 52 so far, but not enough to support a book. And Booster is not the same without Ted, so no on this book as well.

Give me Steel by McDuffie/Batista, Question by Rucka/Bennett, Black Adam by Johns/Porter and Ralph by Waid/Rags and I'm definitely there.

Question - Montoya or Vic flavor.
Black Adam - Preferably as a Black Marvel Family type deal.

I'd go for:

Booster Gold/Supernova as long as it's not Bwa ha ha style.

Animal Man

The Space Heroes, especially if Lobo is included somehow.

Black Adam, preferably by Johns, Kelly, or Morisson.

The Question, whether it's Renee or Vic.

And hopefully Batwoman, as long as it's not by Grayson or Winick.

Looking at the upcoming DC solits even more it seems more and more likely they will not be having any direct 52 spinoffs atleast not right away.
I hope that the june solits tell a different story.
I am also saddened/perplexed by certain characters that seem to be left out of the next weekly as well assuming they live.
52 has given me Several characters that I really could have cared less if they were even drawn in a 14 year olds sketch pad in the past let alone a comic printed, and now I feel like I need to be able to check up on them and see what they are up to.
I really friggin hope that DC doesnt drop the ball on this.
Hell give me a tales of the unexpected style book, Make half about Booster and the other half about Ralph or Half Animal Man and the other half The Question.
If its a Bwahaha book you could even call it,
Questioning Animals and make it a team up where they try and solve mysteries at a zoo. I dont give a crap just give me my 52 characters somewhere. Look at me I look like a crack fiend having a fit.
