I know the books cancelled, but I was interested in giving it a try and saw the first trade, I'll let you guy know what its like. Sounds a bit like Daredevil, but the protagonist kills.

and actually practices law, something Daredevil hasn't done in something like 5 or 6 years (except for the Redemption mini).;)

Well he kinda got Fisk out of prison.

Any reason why only 2 trades are out? A better trade schedule might help a struggling series.

Just finished it this now and gotta say it was a great read! Kate really seems different to any other female character. Next week I'll definately pick up trade two, but I'm almost hoping it sucks because knowing DC they will probably never release a third volume.

DC really needs to lift its game concerning trades, some titles could live longer if trade sales are good and released in a timely manner.

glad you liked it. I think Manhunter is one of the best books to come out in the last five years. If not the number one book. I'm going to miss her. :(

It's definitely in my top 3 right now, and I'll miss it terribly.

I really liked the first trade. I have to remember to get the 2nd this weekend at NYCC.

One of the joys of reading Manhunter is seeing how much of a shark Kate can be in the courtroom.

you damn right about that. i've said it before, Andreyko either has some legal training, is good friends with some lawyers, or is just one helluva b.s. artist, because he writes some of the best courtroom scenes i've ever seen.

what I would like to know (and I've asked this several times now) is how such a great book like Manhunter can be axed and Supergirl keeps going.

It's just not fair. :(

Off topic, but this seems as good a place as any to ask: my stepfather (who is an attorney) claims that the show Shark is the most accurate TV approximation he has seen of the legal process. Do you agree?

truthfully, never watched it. i tend to err on the side of Law & Order myself. less theatrics and more actual courtroom believability. yeah, they exaggerate some stuff and get it wrong once in a while, but on the whole that show is very true-to-life.

most legal shows though, are close to nothing like real-life law firms/court cases. but Boston Legal's just so much damn fun that i don't care.:D

My thought is that because after all the time and delays that went into "The Supergirl from Krpyton", DC's not about to simply let that investment go to waste (though under Kelly, it has -- which is rather surprising given I usually like his stuff).

I think he's referring to its cynicism for the most part, and the fact that Stark will use every underhanded trick and bend every rule in order to win a case...

then no, that's actually NOT the most accurate TV approximation of the true legal system, despite what most people think. do some lawyers act that way? sure. but there are just as many if not more straightforward, honest attorneys out there, who do just fine, as there are "sharks"

I get the feeling that that kind of pervading cynicism was why he got out of criminal law and went into bankruptcy law instead...
