I'm really enjoying 52's rehabilitation of Egg-Fu into Chang-Tzu...to the point of fascination. I was wondering, is his current look (=scary) something new for 52, or has it made some appearance beforehand?
The reason I'm asking this is tied into a larger theory:
1) We've been getting hints for weeks that Chang-Tzu has a connection to Apokolips (references to the Fourth World, New Gods, Boom Tubes etc)...
2) John Byrne apparently made a connection between Darkseid and Egg-fu in Post-Crisis continuity, but I think Egg-fu still had his Pre-Crisis look then (haven't read the story myself, tho').
3) There are rumors/hints that the next big event will involve the New Gods (The catchphrase "Look to the skies" and Scott Free and Big Barda's appearance on Didio's teaser image,etc.)
4) Waaaay back in a Q&A with Steve Wacker, he said that we had already seen another New God (besides Devilance) early in 52, which means they were in a form that we wouldn't normally recognize.
5) If you go with the concept that Darkseid and the other New Gods are actually gods, and can manifest themselves in different forms (ala Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers series)....

I realize this could be over-reaching, but this would be coming from the same people who made Skeets a villainous threat...and come on, Egg-Fu's new look...glaring red eyes, menacing mouth, all in a rocky, craggy face...who does that sound like to you?
